Coorg is situated in the south west of Karnataka, boarding with Kerala. The small town of Mercara (Medikeri) is the headquarters of Coorg and 124 km west of Mysore, Mercara is located 260 km away from Bangalore, 136 km from Mangalore and 115 km from Kannur. There is a temple built by Lingaraja in 1820, dedicated to Lord Siva. This Omkareswara temple is a mixture of Islamic and Gothic style architecture. There is another temple at Bagamandala, 36 km away from Madikeri. Tadiyandamol, the tallest peak in Kodagu is ideal for trekking. Coorg is having the largest coffee estates, orange groves, pepper and cardamom farms. The main attraction are the Front, Raja’Seat, Raja’s Tomb and Sree Omakareswara Temple. The famous waterfalls ‘Ebi Falls’ is 6 km away from Madikery. The Nagerhole National Park is 63 km away from Madikeri.
